After years of fundraising and product development at ZINK Imaging Inc. — perhaps the most talked about spinout from Polaroid Corp., the local entrepreneur is finally seeing her company’s technology hit store shelves. And Caswell, ZINK’s CEO, made the trip to the Best Buy store on Newbury Street to pick up a Polaroid PoGo Instant Mobile Printer when it went on sale July 6.

The successor to the instant snapshot camera measures only 50 x 76 mm and is available in either black or silver. The PoGo works especially well with camera mobile phones via Bluetooth, although PictBridge capable digital cameras are compatible as well via a USB cable.

The unusual paper is the creation of former employees of Polaroid who originated the process there. They spun off as a separate company, ZINK Imaging, in 2005 after Polaroid's bankruptcy and eventual sale to the Petters Group Worldwide in Minnetonka, Minn. The Alps Electric Company in Tokyo will make the printers.
